They're not!
But they could be!
I've just got the stock GM pancake on the top of the engine, with the two snorkel type inlets, taking air from above the radiator support - standard method from the late seventies on, I think.
So at the moment all they do is ram cold air on to the rocker covers and perhaps the wiper motor - not a recognised performance improver!
I guess they could be adapted to give a ram air effect, but I'd need to either buy the right airbox, modify the current one, or make my own - all projects for further down the line..
In the meantime, they look good for sucking up debris off the roadside as i rumble past, you know: bugs, light aircraft, inquisitive children(!)

Just realised:
Thanks for using the "correct" terminology, so I can understand what you mean
. Hood, bonnet, trunk, boot, windshield, windscreen - at least everyone knows what "Corvette" means!
It's the universally accepted word for the most fun you can have with your clothes on.... well ok, second most!

Hey Theo! My sister lived in "jolly ol' England" for quite a few years so I got an education in some terms. Never had the opportunity to visit while she was living there (she's back in the Colonies again), but hope to make a stop on our next trip 'across the pond'.

Where'd she live? Nowhere's very far from anywhere over here, by your standards.. might have been round the corner from me!
If you ever make it over this way, let me know, your're most welcome to stop by and say hello

She lived in the county of Dorset near the town of Bridport which is a few kilometers in from the south coast. Weymouth was the closest larger city that was right on the coast. Her in-laws still live there on the family farm producing fruit and berries.
I'll be sure to ring you up when I get over there.

I'm from the southwest too...
I was born and brought up in Cornwall, the last south west "tip" of the British isles, so I know Dorset in as much as you have to drive through it to get more or less anywhere else in the country, from Cornwall!
I'm at university in the East midlands area now, Nottingham to be precise. Thats pretty much central england, if you look at the map. I like to get back to Cornwall whenever possible, because i do miss the beach
I was brought up on a farm, so I miss the countryside too, when I'm stuck in the city up here! Nottingham's a pretty green city though, so things could be a lot worse!

I'm sorry to say I kinda missed the whole footie thing, never got into it that much in school - a lot of my mates are pretty fanatic about it though....
It will probaably come as no surprise that my passion was/is cars! Not quite as good for your health as a bit of sport, but what can I say, I'm a lazy swine!
(Actually, I used to be a very keen horseman as a kid, but there's not much room for a horse in my Uni student house, so they have to be left at home!)
Just realised its 5pm, so time to stop working (hang on, not that i was anyway)
Take it easy mate
