Vette(s): 1976 Stingray

I am searching for a Corvette Club. I live in Salinas, CA and cannot find any near me, or they are full. Can anyone help me find one, or let me know if there is one available?

I have a 1976 Stingray, and would love to join a club.

Here is my $.02. Forget joining a Corvette Club. From what I have seen they are 80% C5 15% C4 3% C6 and 2% C3. Most are retired C5 owners that really don't do much but go on little weekend jaunts and start little cliques. You will meet a few good people but I got fed up real quick and decided to start a local C3 owner club only.

Go to shows and talk to the other C3 owners and see if they would like to join you in a C3 club. We are not NCCC sanctioned but we have alot of fun. We go to shows together and now we are putting on our own C3 Shark shows. We have no dues, or officers but a real passion for the C3 Shark. You will find a lot of tech info amoung that group and we occasionally have a 'Tech Day' to work on someones car. These things need a lot of attention.

You can go to a few meetings if you find a club and just see what they are all about before you plunk down that membership fee.

Good luck to you

YOU REALLY DON'T HAVE TO BE IN A "CORVETTE ONLY" CLUB (I'LL PROBABLY CATCH FLAK FOR THIS). I HAVE FOUND GOING TO CAR SHOWS THAT ARE NOT CORVETTE ONLY IS MORE FUN. (JUST MY OPINION). TOO BAD YOU'RE NOT IN SO CAL....YOU COULD JOIN US IN "THE WILD BUNCH". JUST A FEW GUYS WITH A PASSION FOR HOT RODS, CORVETTES, MUSCLE CARS AND VW'S. WE ATTEND SHOWS AND RUNS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH AND HAVE A GREAT TIME. CHECK OUT A LOCAL CRUISE NEAR YOU AND ASK AROUND. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE FOUND, AS SILVER 69 SAID, MOST OF THE CORVETTE CLUBS ARE REAL CLIQUE ORIENTED.

                                SO THERE'S MY .02........

Yah,I was in a local Corvette Club in my area, only a few C3s,mostly 4s,5s,a couple of 6s,nobody worked on their own cars, took them to shops, what is the sense of owning a Vette ,if you don"t get your hands dirty working on it

While I agree that most of the 'Vette clubs these days are oriented more to the late models. there are some that are not. Our club is geared to the older cars, 53-82. There is a limit on the number of newer cars, and the club is limited to no more than 125 total. Look for something like this. Go to a few shows, and ask around. Don't be shy! Ask about the focus of the club. Is it more racing oriented, shows, cruises? You should be able to find one that suits you.
