Concerning the Newsletter Name Vote: The current top vote getter (by far) is "Shark Bites;" y'all do know that that's the name of a monthly feature that appears in Corvette Fever magazine, don't you?
First, I don't know if this could cause "ill will" (or possibly something worse?) between C3VR and CF. I'm certain we would not want that. Second, it almost makes it look like we couldn't come up with something original, so we took a title from them. Third, and at the risk of upsetting people; I personally think there were many better suggestions. While it's an OK name, I just don't think it would be a good idea.
Just my two cents, what do you all think?

Yup... I actually just noticed that last week, and also had a concern about stepping on Corvette Fever's toes.
I have a call into the editor of Corvette Fever to ask if they'll have a problem with us using "Shark Bites."
As soon as I hear back, I'll let you know...

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
If CF does have a problem with it (and I think they will since it is a printed news quarterly, and they may have the name protected by copyright laws) there's always the option of changing the spelling to "Shark Bytes" to get away from the problem.
I can't remember if that particular spelling was submitted by another member, but my suggestion in this case would be to let Rosie and the other member share the prize since we didn't research this whole problem ahead of time.
Don't know what copyright lawyers cost, but it may be something C3VR wants to check into so that we are not "stolen from" either.
Keep the rubber on the road,

Adam,
Mark makes a good point. Since I am listed as the submitter of "shark bytes", I have no objection to his idea for the prize.
Just another of those tuff decisions you have to make as owner / operator, president, vice - president, treasurer and programer extrodinair. Better you than me !

I still have not been able to reach the editor of Corvette Forum, and she hasn't returned my voice mail message.
I'm thinking there is no copyright issue, because they do not use "Shark Bites" as the name of a publication, it is mearly the heading of an article.
I'm more concerned about annoying Corvette Fever.
I'm just trying to be courteous.
I'll let you know what I find out. Hopefully before the end of december!

I just got off the phone with the editor of Corvette Fever.
She said she doesn't see any reason why we couldn't use "Shark Bites." She doesn't believe that it is copyrighted. She also said since C3VR isn't a "competitor" of theirs that it really shouldn't be an issue.
I mentioned that we were considering "Shark Bytes" instead, and said that would really forego any possible legal issues if we used that name instead.
So I think that might just be what will happen, use "Shark Bytes".
I think the worst that would happen, using either, would be a "Cease and Desist" order against us.
She even told me to send her a copy of our first issue.

Actually..I hadn't even thought about that.
Whatever the final decision is...is OK with me.
