Unfortunately Rodney, the only way I have found to hide them is to mouse over them, find the arrow, and click on that. It hides them for that page. Once you click on another topic, they come right back. Don't know of any permanent way to hide them....
I try to ignore them, but the one on the side gets into the text of some of the posts....
If it's good for the site, I'll live with it, and I hope you and others will too.

I assume you are all talking about using a web browser on a desktop computer or large screen mobile device. If you are using it on a desktop computer, you can make the width of your browser window narrower. As you make it narrower, eventually the sharing tools will disappear. You don't have to make it so narrow that it is annoyingly small. I'm doing it right now and I can still see then entire message entry box and everything on the left side.
I'll be trying these share tools for a few months. If they don't seem to be helping traffic increase, I'll probably get rid of them.
Thanks for understanding and for your support.

How is making the "c3vr" experience more annoying going to keep people coming to the site?

People that have been on the site for a long time may find this new feature disruptive because they aren't used to it. New members won't know different. I've only heard from a handful of people that find this disruptive. I'm hoping those people will simply adjust to it. It does seem to be keeping people on the site a little longer.
Please bear with it as you get adjusted to it. As I mentioned above, it's important to try to get more activity in order to sustain the site.
Thanks.

I agree. I also don't like the pop-ups and little extra social media buttons. It's like the stickers I find on the front page of my newspaper. Last week I got sucked in by one of the pop-ups in the lower right hand corner. It was from a post from about 5 year ago. Now I ignore the pop-up. So that means they aren't going to keep me on the site any longer.

Adam,
One thing I really like is the email that you send out at the end of the week that list all the threads that were posted that week. That gives me a concise list that I can skim to see what I missed. If it is a subject that interests me, I click on it and read the posts and maybe comment. If not, I skip it.
PLEASE keep sending that email.
I am so used to ads on all the other websites, I automatically block them out. They has no effect on my time on a site.

That's funny, I don't remember getting any emails like that. I just get the daily postings list. Oh well, I check in almost daily anyway so it wouldn't make any difference.

Larry, to make sure you are receiving forum summary updates, go to your profile, scroll down to the Privacy Options and look for the "Don't Send me Forum Update" checkbox. Make sure it is NOT checked and select a frequency from the "Send me any update every" box. Then make sure to click "Update Profile" at the bottom of the page.

Ad Block Plus will get rid of most pop-up ads. Works great on Firefox.
Also, I don't get the facebook stuff on my laptop, but I do on my desktop. Don't know why.
