Currently, when you post a message and choose to use the Forum Signature that is in your Profile, the signature that is in your profile at that moment is attached to the post. If you later edit the Forum Signature in your profile, any previous posts are not affected, only new posts from that point on will show your modified Signature.

My question is... would you rather your Forum Signature always be pulled from you current profile? That way, if you make a change in your profile all your past and future posts will use the modified version.

Make sense?

What are your thoughts?

I kind of like the way it is now. That way there is some variations to see. Can be amusing.

|withstupid| That way, in ten years, we can go through (what will then be) the annotated archive, look at our old posts and say, "Wow, did I actually WANT people to see THAT?"

Leave it . . . so our kids can make fun of us! |laugh|

I'm not going to be much help on this one 'cause I can see the pros and cons to both sides. Ben has a solid point from a database storage standpoint. But some folks (myself included) change their sigs occasionally for some variety (for fun or for the season) and those variations would be lost.

For the moment, put me solidly in the middle. |headscratch| |confusing| |cheers|

I'm voting for using the most current. I noticed that if I change my signature and I delete the picture from the source location, that while the old signature still shows on old posts, the picture doesn't. So I have to keep the old pictures posted on here in my personal folder (which takes up limited space). Otherwise you get a box with the X in the corner so you can't see the old picture anyway.

I just updated my signature to make my picture smaller so I replaced the existing photo with the new one. Now if you go back and look at my old posts prior to this update, you'll see what I mean.

Scroll down and look at this example (mine is about 3 down from the top): http://www.c3vr.com/vrforums/message_go.asp?MID=43205

Ben also makes a good point about storage of all those old pics.
