Not sure if this is just me or something has changed on the system, but I've noticed that when I'm reading forums, the posts are now wider than my display and I have to use the horizontal scroll at the bottom (which only appears when the display is wider than the screen) to read the entire thing. Wasn't like this before so wondering what's going on?

P.S. Doesn't seem to be the case for all forums/posts, but several of them. For example: http://www.c3vr.com/vrforums/message_go.asp?MID=54800 Wasn't "wide-screen" when I started the post, but now it is.

ive noticed the same thing
The wide screen display is in most cases being caused by one of two things:
1) a single large image being included in a signature or the thread that is wider than 400 pixels; or
2) multiple smaller images being included side by side in a signature or the thread whose total width exceeds 400 pixels.
In the thread you reference it appeared that daveb12's signature images were causing the problem. I've contacted him about stacking the images in his signature so future posts wouldn't be a problem. But past posts would continue cause a wide screen until smaller versions of his images are put in place. So I gave him an assist and resized the images which should take care of the wide display in those threads where he had the dual images.
A general reminder: ANY image included for display in a signature or forum thread should not exceed 400 pixels in width as they will cause page display issues like you encountered and cause long page loading times for those members who do not have high speed internet connectivity available to them.
If anyone needs help resizing images just ask any moderator. They'll be happy to assist you.

Norsky - thanks for the information! I kind of thought that's what it was. Maybe we can remind the moderators of each of the forums to be on the lookout for this and send a note to the member to adjust their pics?
Dave - thanks for fixing your sig pics!

I don't think the problem with the above post was Daves sig pics. The problem was with the long string url that was pasted into that thread. It is one long word or so the software thinks, so it keeps it as one line. Example, if I were to type the letter A 1000 times in a row, the screen would be widened to accept a 1000 letter word.
Dave your sigs have not been causing me to scroll. I understand my sig pic was way too big at 640X480 so I reduced it and now I am not part of the problem.

That makes sense. Sounds to me though like it could be an either/or situation. One of the two scenarios could cause this. At least with the smaller sig pics, it will load faster for those on slower connections and dial-up. So there's a dual benefit to that.
I know you can't break up URL's, but I think there's a way to create a hyperlinked word for the URL - but I'm not quite sure how to do that or if that would be possible on this site.

I forgot about that one. You're right about a long string of consecutive characters. The page doesn't know where to automatically do the word wrap so the page just gets widened out. Long strings of characters used for dividing text into sections (like '***********' for example) should be kept under 25 or so characters or have spaces in between (like '* * * * * *') so the word wrapping can do its thing.
Good catch!

your primary picture is still 640x480 though..
still kinda big..
320x240 may be a good size..
I use 256 x 192
