They look like they were drawn by a 6 year old with a big magic marker. They tell you nothing. I'm planning on taking the stripe guy my assembly manual and I got some good close up photos off of Noel's site. Is there anything else that I should do? Too bad I don't have another 82 CE sitting around! |biggrin|

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
Dar,

If I remember correctly, the Assembly Manual shows just where the decals go. My manual is for a 79, so it won't help. Maybe someone with a newer manual could scan a copy for you...

dar, you do have the 1982 AIM correct? It does tell you where they go as well as the aplication directions. If you don't and need it, let me know. I can copy mine and either fax or overnight it to you.
Chris

Thanks guys! Chris, I've already taken the manual down to the shop, and also went to Noel's site and printed most of his close ups. There's one that's really great of the back area of the wheel well. It shows up close how the stripes kinda wrap around the body, rather than being cut off at the edge. I understand that's how the factory did the stripes.

I'm looking for the page number(s) in the assembly manual for the stripe application. Just in case the striper needs it. He's got the book already down there, so hopefully he'll use it. But if I can get the numbers, then I could go mark it while I'm down there tomorrow.

Dar have them check out the following
WPC: OA14 and WPC : OA 15 in the AIM.
That gives the application procedire and wrap around instructions. Hope this helps
Chris

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here but do the instructions state anywhere if you should use an application fluid ? by this I mean to prevent bubbles while applying any decals you should wet the adhesive side with a solution of warm soapy water ( 2 drops of mild dish detergent per quart of warm water.) or what they refer to in Sign Shops as Adhering Fluid like RAPID-TAC. This method enables you to pre-position the decal exactly where you need it and will not stick to the surface until you burnish it down with a small plastic squeegee.
I've seen many a decal ruined by not using this method.
Good Luck,
Joe V.

Chris, thanks sweetie! I knew you'd come through for me! |wink| One more thing, could you please post here what it basically says about solution to apply and also the wrap around deal? He was putting them under the, say, wheel well opening, then put the ends together in a point underneath, is this correct???

Joe, thanks for the info, he'll probably need that solution to place the hood stripe and side stripes, the big one's, don't you think?

Thanks you guys for all your help! Should have her back very soon now! Going for early next week I think at this point. Was really hoping for tomorrow, big cruise in Sat night and I'd REALLY like her to be there and be seen!

Thanks for asking! Glen, the paint looks sooooo good! I can't believe how good! She looks so flat now. Smooth. The pin stripes is what he's doing first. Wheel well opening, fenders and nose are done along with the tops of the doors. What's weird is that she looked very silver without them, now she's taking on the right tones. I was hoping to have her for a Red Line vs. Simi Valley cruise in Sat night, but I'm not thinking so! Well, it's not all a bad thing. I'll get her back in the middle of the week and maybe go out for a nice ride while everyone else is at work! |biggrin|
