Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79
It was suggested to me that it might be a good idea to have a forum for use just by women that own Vettes.
So, I have created this forum.
So Women that own Vettes...here's your very own space!
Since there is no way for me to identify who is male and who is female, I won't be able to restrict access to it to just the females. So, I'll leave it up to the kindness of us Vette Males to not post here unless the converstation warrents a response from us.
Juliet has offered to monitor and moderate this forum and will do her best to make it a great place for the women to discuss their Vettes!
Enjoy!

HI! I am a proud owner of a 74 stingray. I just got it 3 days ago and I have a question
I am trying to restore it back to "showroom". Now, I guess the question is original or what?
I have cked the vin and numbers on the engine everything matches.. interior is shot.
The paint job is NOT original colour.. Med Corvette Blue. It is Blue Ice with stripe
on the hood scoop and on the side of veh. Should I repaint to the original colour
leave it alone or what? HELP! :)

Adam - thanks for this forum. This could be fun.
Hi Juliet... I'm glad to see that you're here too. And moderating!!! Where do you find the time??
Red920 - Congratulations on your '74.
IMHO, I think you should drive her and enjoy it for a while before starting to deal with paint and interior. Next, I'd start working on any mechanical issues that probably exist. When that's done, then I'd decide what to do about paint and interior.

Hi Countach! Sure! That would be fun! Invite them all over! One of my corvette clubs has done some cruises with the local porsche and ferrrari clubs before. It's always a blast to get the sports cars out on the road together. A real headturner. :)
Welcome everyone. Time Lidia? Ha. I don't sleep (at least it feels that way sometime!). Actually I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering what you were up to since I hadn't seen you around on the boards in a while.
Red - You'll have to decide what to do with the car. Nobody else can make that call. You can speak with some originality experts (NCRS judges for example) and get an assessment of your car in terms of what it would take to restore it to 'factory original condition.' When I first got my '70 I thought I'd get a driver. It was going to be my commuter car replacement for my Mustang GT convertible. I brought it to a local chapter NCRS meet and had it judged. It cost about $30 and I got the benefit of 10 judges going over every detail of the car. I got back dozens of pages of judging sheets afterwards with all the things not meeting the NCRS judging standard. It was really an educational experience. As a result of that I learned that it wouldn't really take much $$ to restore my '70 to Top Flight status. Sure, it would take a lot of labor, elbow grease and a few pricey items (correct alternator, door panels and carb) - but as restorations go, mine is considered 'easy.' Well, that changed my plans for the car. I couldn't bring myself to battle Wash DC traffic with it daily, so I kept the Rustang. I ended up selling that last winter to get my C4 for a daily driver. :) That time my husband made me sell the Mustang first though.
Anyways, you don't have to decide now. Live with the car some, learn some about it and then you can make an educated decision. If you want to get the technical judging guide for your car, you can get them through NCRS. www.ncrs.org

Juliet - I'm still around. I'd didn't have internet access for a while. Bought a house in KY and it's taken up too much time and money. At least it's close to Bowling Green and the Corvette Museum.
The '71 is still on the road and running better than ever. Last weekend I installed new u-joints. I'm still sore.
But it was fun.

Lidia - Near Bowling Green!?!?
I feel a road trip coming on.
WOuld you believe I haven't been to the NCM yet?
I know what you mean about sore... I took the entire rear suspension out of the '70. Tony's doing new seals on the rear diff, and rebuilding the T-arms. While it's all out of the garage I'm working on cleaning up the frame. Fortunately it's a real solid frame - just surface rust.
So it's bond with the power / air grinder tools and wire brushes.
Works fine (lots of upper body arm work) ...until the wire brushes spew out the metal wires and impail me with them.

Hi All!
I have a '79 L48 California Vette. Midnight Blue auto. I have done what Lidia suggested, and that is to just drive it for a while before deciding what mods to do to it. I have only had it since before last Thanksgiving. I will be having a valve job done in the next week or two. Would love to redo the whole engine, but alas that takes money. And with 4 kids I kinda feel a bit guilty spending it all on me.
But I have a few little things I will be changing out, like tail light lenses, new shift boot, and new emblems all around.
Good to have a space just for the ladies!!
