Thanks for the interest, so glad to be a part of the vette world!

I certainly don't mind you asking how I came to have a C3.  The two things I like talking about most are my 21 month old son and my vette.  Coincidentally my son's birthday and my vett's build date are the same!! Cool right!!  I have always loved muscle cars and have always thought when I could afford to have a hobby car it would be a late 60's Shelby Mustang.  We bought a 1960 vette for my husband about 3 years ago and I was going to look around a bit for a car for me.  After going to shows and cruise nights I was bitten by the vette bug, if there is such a thing.  I decided that I liked C3s best especially chrome bumper cars.  And I like the 70 better becuase of the fender flares and low production year, plus engine compression was reduced after 70.  I quickly decided a 4 speed 70 convertible.  Fortunately my husband can fix almost anything but I am relatively mechanical and enjoy working on the vettes also.

I don't have any photos of my vette becuase she does not go out with snow and salt on the road.  And the engine is at the machine shop being rebuilt.  But I have a photo taken of my car at the dealer in Texas where I bought it from.  If I can figure out how to get the picture on here I will post it.  I am anxious to get it outside and take some nicer photos.

By the way the "Gold Thing" is a beauty!!! Charity

I'm so happy to see that you've invested in a Vette and not a "Rustang." I know you will enjoy it more. I've driven one, but it's not like a Vette - no comparison (just my 2 cents).

So, where in Texas did you buy your Vette? I live in Texas....curious to know where. There are a lot here to choose from, but high $$$.

Thanks for the compliment on the "Gold Thing." You just haven't seen it up close!    I was bit by the Vette Bug a long time ago at 18. Bought my first POS '65 C2 Vert/Side Pipes and drove it to college (if it would run). If you were caught out in the rain in it, you got your bath for the day cuz the convertable top leaked (awful) and it was in good shape!    Loved that car!

Good luck with your picture. You will get it figured out. If I can, so can you.

I searched online for a few months since I wanted a specific car.  Also, I was taking some time to do some research on vettes and C3s imperticular.  I finally found my vette at a dealer in Houston called Corvettes and Classics.  Believe me we tried to find one out my way but they are more scarce, maybe because of the weather I don't know.  Anyway I hired an appraiser to drive and check the car out.  And took my chances.  We did the same with my husband's 60 that came from Georgia.  Anyway when the car arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the paint condition and frame but unpleasantly surprised by the motor.  The car had a 400cid in it and the original 350 seperate but included.  The dealer and appraiser said the 400 would last a few years but after finding the previous owner who purchased the car in 78 he put the 400 in the vette with 90k miles on it from Caprice!  Why, I don't know.  But the good thing is the 350 was taken out with only 58k miles because of a broken timing chain.  We got the original oil pan and valve covers.  I wanted original motor back in anyway so not all bad.  I did learn that the previous owner had included a vinyl hard top that came with the car originally that was somehow no longer with the car.  But overall I l LOVE THAT CAR!!!  New white top and good interior and great paint!  I tried for about an hour to get the stupid photo on my signiture last night but gave up.  Will try again soon.

Your ride is SWEET!    I love the the color, blue is my favorite!
Oh, I've heard of that dealer in Houston! Saw it on the net too. Did that 400 run ok? You could of run that till it died, then put in the 350....just so ya could drive it. Oh, I forget your up there where the snow is!    I had my timing chain checked out and it's in good shape...whew! Need paint, but it's not that bad. I've seen worse. Got some touch up paint mixed and it matches perfect!! I wonder what happened to the hard top that was supposed to come with your car?

You are able to view the picture?  Because I didn't think it could be seen.  All I saw is a box with an x in it.  The 400 was running tough.  Fouling plugs after a 30 minute drive.  Starts hard very hard when cold.  But I the previous owner says he disconnected the choke and I think the TCS?  But mostly I want to be able to drive and enjoy the car this spring and summer without being concerned about being easy on it.  Fortunately the paint is verrry nice!  Hoping to win a trophy this year.  But if not I'm still happy.  As far as the hard top, sold I'm sure.  Since it was black vinyl it could fit alot of cars.  But I did find the original jack and lug wrench, a plus.  So looking forward to warm weather and clean roads!! Another few weeks.  About the time my engine is finished! Also waiting on my vanity plates---VET 70 (70vet was taken).  What a great hobby

SmileHey guys and girls,

Charity, you ride is beautiful. Don't blame you for not bringing it out in the snow. The weather is finally starting to break here in NY, so I'm trying to get my baby together too.

Update: Changed the battery this wknd. sounded stronger but wouldn't start. So, I'm going to tow it to my professional mechanic. I think its just the plugs. Also, what do you guys think about the attachment for the battery when the car sits for the winter? Might just get that for next winter.

Quick story how I found my baby. Looked in local papers, found junk. Started searching the internet. Found one almost won the bid, missed it by $10. Angry Saw another one in CT, won the bidBig smile, but didn't meet the reserve! Called the guy tryed to make a deal he said he'll let me know. Well, thought I'd never hear from him again. He called me back said come look we'll talk, called back again said bring cash you have sign an agreement and take the car! Ran, up there with my mechanic, he said OK, paint was good, drove good I signed agreement, owner kept title 'til I paid balance and we towed it back to NY.

Now we're living happily ever after.WinkSmile When I didn't meet the reserve I said "what's for me I'll have", so I named it my 81 Blessing.

June

You saw your picture!! Looks good, huh?? I like it. That would be cool to win a trophy. I had mine in one show, but didn't win anything, but that's ok too. I'm thankfull to even have the Gold Thing. I have bubble lights in the back & they look good. So those aren't original & I changed to mags. Changed the carb & distributor, but I kept all the original stuff. So, the rest of it is original. I left the smog pump on. Does your's still have that smog pump?? Did you find the Jack and lug wrench in the back behind the passenger seat in the cubby hole? The jack is ok, but the lug wrench sucks. A 4 way is better, so I bought one of those for better leverage to make sure your lug nuts are on tight just in case I get a flat. I got the vanity plates, but I saw one I liked better...ICUFUZZ. I would love to have that one!
