Is your husband a patient man?

Not really... I had never sailed before I met him. Fell in love with it (and him) but soon realized I better take some classes! I took 2 sailing classes and things went a lot smoother from then on. So, I'm a little leary of gettin behind the wheel with him as the teacher! I could be wrong, though...he lurks around here occasionally...maybe he'll throw in his $.02.

Yes, you should learn to shift a manual.
Don't try it with a heavy-duty clutch though.
And don't start out on a hill at the stop light.
Go to the empty plaza on a Sunday evening.
You might want to ask a friend or co-worker rather than your husband.
After an hour, you will be smooth as glass.

Vette(s): #1 -1969 Corvette Coupe Riverside Gold, black interior,MN,A/C,350/350,PS,PB,window cranks.
#2 -2000 C5, black/black, 6 sp, Bose system & lots of buttons.
You will be ok......don't worry.......it's not that hard. I learned on a Toyota Pick Up kind of. I drove it 4 times. The first time I had trouble stoping it and ended up being stoped by a bush by the side of the house.
Didn't hurt the truck.
I was 19 or 20.

A couple of month's later, I bought my first Corvette, the '65 Vert Roadster and it was a 4 speed. Man, I had no problem shifting it, in fact I actually learned how to shift in that Vette.........it was a piece of cake!
So go strip those gears in your hubby's Musturd.

"Girl Car?"
OMG, your callin' a Vette, a "Girl Car?"
Hey guys, did I read that correctly?
Ok, ok......drive your "Pony Car" to NV & Karen can drive her "Girl Car." When I arrive in my "Greypoupon Girl Car",....I'll take ya' on..... we'll have us a nice little race on a drag strip (surely there's one somewhere - maybe by that Bunny Ranch").
You won't be callin' any more Vette's a "Girl Car"......deal?

I hope your husband's a good sport, Karen........

Yeah, he's a good sport. I believe by "girl car" he meant automatic transmission (vs the boy car which is manual transmission...has a stick
)
Now he's saying "Maybe we should rent one" (to teach me that is.) I'm gettin the feelin this ain't gonna happen....

Specifically, I meant the wife's car. It's a 77 and not very fast. I got beat by a Blazer going up our hill. That would NEVER happen in the 'stang. All things considered, a "boy" vette (w/manual tranny) might have done a little better. I love to drive the vette though. It corners much nicer where the 'stang understeers, but will spin out if you are not gingerly on the gas. Plus, I don't get the waves, stares, or "nice car"s in the 'stang - but it is fast.

He got pulled over by a cop once for spinning his wheels in front of Gresham High School. I think the cop was expecting to see a teenager behind the wheel. When he saw Mike he asked "Is the car too much for ya???"
