my 1970 convertable is missing a bracket for the drivers door guide. the bracket sits on top of the door lock post inner frame. having a problem trying to find this and i  was wondering if may be damaging to the car to keep using the door without the guide working. any ideas?

Do not know the answer for sure but I would say yes as without them you are weakening the strength of the body a lot. You do not have the T-Top frame to hold the part together.
By the way I know where you can get them.  I just had their usefulness explaine to me on last Tuesday.

You need to email vettsteve@aol.com

He is an lifetime C3VR member that does restoration and dismantling of C3 - C4.  When I was over at his shop saw this convertible and I asked why he was taking apart a convertible.  He showed me that the guy had run into the back end of a dock bumper taking out all of the front Fiberglass.  The guy had flared the fenders for bigger tires and the interior of the car was trash except the dash and window posts and the engine and transmission were great as were the doors and frame for the convertible top.

He told me he would have to put in at least $12k his cost into it.  Add  the cost he paid and he would be about $3k short in selling it in this economy.  I do not remember the year of the C3 it was a small block I believe. He has two C3s he is restoring one is going overseas some place in Europe or Australia the other will be sold locally and the one (the convertible) he was parting out.

As an aside he showed me the guides convertibles use to stiffen the car.  That was Tuesday.

So give him an email mention the registry and tell him the CE guy (that is what his shop guys call me) sent you.  You will get the best price he alway gives local and C3VR members better prices.

By the way welcome again to the C3RV registry and join us and stay tuned in.  Lots of help given and received on this site.

If you are talking about the guide on the door jam that the pin on the door slides into as you close your door I bought 2 new ones last year. I still have one of the old ones. If its the right piece I would sell it a lot less then you can buy a new one for. I think they are almost 90 bucks. If you can post a pic and which side you need. I cant remember which side I have but I will check once I know ifwe are talking about the same pic. I can send you a pic of mine to your email but I still havent figured out how to post pics on here yet.
