know there has been quite a few posts on this but this is something a lot of people overlook. been having issues with my windows since i got the car. finally last sept i replaced the rollers on the drivers door. removed the tracks and could nt believe how thegrease caked up in the track and how hard it was cleaning them. and i am surprised that the glass didnt break as all the mountings were loose as heck.
got sidetracked this winter as i had to have my knee operated on and was out of commission for six weeks. well finally got to the passenger door and same tthing with the mounting bolts. the only difference on this was that the tracks werent as bad as the other side.
basically it isnt as hard to do as it might seem but the difference in the operation of the windows is amazing.

Thanx Dave!
I hate working on door glass more than anything...just hate it. But....sometimes ya just gotta do it, and the results can be well worth the effort.

I have had problems with my driver side since I bought it. Took it to body shop..they replaced bushings and such, so they say, anyway window is loose and rattles. Does not roll up flush to the weather stripping. Is this the type of problem you had. If so, could you post or send me a P.M. on how you did what you did.
thanks

would imagine 81 windows and 75 are about the same. there are 4 rollers that you can usually get from a corvette suppliers. first thing would be to see where it is rattling from. could be the felt window cushions are loose and need to be adjusted to the window or something else maybe loose. on mine the bolts that hold the window to the track were loose plus a couple of the bolts that hold the tracks in. best thing i would suggest is to take off door panel and see if you can see what might be wrong. as far as lining up with the weatherstripping that would mean the stops at the top of tracks need adjusting. if you have the service manual it should be in there how to adjust. will check to see if i can find the directions and will post it.
