Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
I am looking at starting with my ecm to find my electical ghost, it seems everytime I test the system its telling me that a differant system is drawing power. The current ecm is a rebuilt and frankly i dont trust it.

I was told its an 84 ecm for better stablilization of the electronics in the car as well as correcting the hesistation from the throttle bodies. The Chip is suppose to be the 84 as well.

anyways, I pulled the alpine stereo out (in under 30 sec by the way- now I know how theifs take them so quicky without breaking anything) and still have a draw in other systems, security one day, injectors another, curtisy lights another... driving me crazy is what it is.
It was definatly not the Stereo its fully disconected and taped off!!  grrrr.

anyways I was hoping you guys may have a decent upgraded ecm 84 or the stock 82 ecm.

thanks for looking guys I really want to get my car back on the road sun's been out and she's been covered!!!!

I can't imagine the ECM from an '84 would work at all in the '82, unless it has been modified somehow. The '84 cars have way more stuff running thru the ECM compared to the '82, including a lot of the digital dash information.
Reman ECMs have been hit/miss for me....sometimes they work great right out of the box, sometimes they're junk....it's a crap shoot.
I would be leery of buying a used ECM from someone, unless it is someone you know...and trust. Your best bet is a reman from a reputable company, or from an authorized GM supplier. Problem with that is finding one that actually has one. I've had a terrible time locating computer modules for even later model('96) Corvettes....

Vette(s): 1981 Blue Ice Met. w/pearl ghost flames TKO500 5speed. LS1 Swap 3.45 Dana 44.
It has been done. It will require some moving of wires for the different ECM plug ends and jumpers for each of the injector drivers. The harness plug in will be different. The '82's have and edge board connection and the '84 will have a 32 pin and a 24 pin connector. So if your really good and really patient, it can be done.
