Well folks, the Lukester is really shaping up and looks even better with all the trim back in place. I converted all the blacked out mouldings back to the bright anodized finish and it really looks great with the darker blue color. In no specific order, here's a list of what took place in the last week:
Door handles - new ones with gaskets put in - the outer nut is a major PITA to catch. Wound up taking out the latch mechanisms. While they were out, cleaned greased and put back.
Sport mirrors remounted - oy-vey!!
- had to remove the door glass - but even so, took a fraction of the time to mount them compared to how long it took be to get them out leaving the glass in place!!!
All emblems mounted (used double sided 3M industrial tape on fenders and nose - get them on right on the first shot - they ain't comin off!!!)
Window moldings - I used some JB Weld to glue in some new rear window moulding clips - they have a peg that slides into holes in the window channel, but the peg/hole theory only works if the window is out - JB Weld did the trick
Mounted lower valence panel and air dam - this should improve my cooling even more!!
T-top liners put back - those Velcro-like buttons are another PITA!!!
Cleaned and oiled the door lock cylinders and reinstalled with new gaskets.
New window seals replaced on the door side of the window. A little trickier than I expected..
Reinstalled the antenna - needed an extra set of hands for this one...
Door sill mouldings and new water diverters.
Rocker panel mouldings - I bought a fantastic kit for $20 that basically eliminates the old rusted and stripped screw holes. After drilling them out with a 3/8 bit, they are replaced by these cool brass receptacles that are internally threaded. The mouldings were never so secure or mounted so nicely. I highly recommed this kit.
