Dear DR. Joel; The last time my Vette was out of the garage was in July.My son borrowed it for his wedding, when the wedding was over I brought the car home.It was about a 20 mile drive for me to bring it home,no problems whatsoever.I was going to take her over to my Dad's house last night to put her in for winter storage,a-hah the battery was dead, hooked up the 50 amp. charger-car starter, she fired up in about 10 minutes.Backed her out of the driveway and headed down my road,1st gear fine ,2nd gear fine, she shifted into drive and started slipping.W.T.H.Shocked.parked her back in the garage.got up this morning went out started her up,let her run about ten minutes, checked the fluid, down 1 pint, put in 1 pint, took her for a short ride, still the same deal ,1st solid,2nd solid, drive slipping.Shocked.please tell me it's somethin simple like a modulator valve Tongue

Sorry man....cain't do that...
A failed modulator would effect all of the shifts/gear ranges, not just high gear, but...it wouldn't hurt to at least have a look-see. Pull the vac. line off of the modulator and see if any fluid runs out of it. If it do, then the mod is bad, and replacing it might help.
High gear take the most volume of fluid to apply, so being low on fluid could cause this, but a pint low shouldn't create a slipping issue...two quarts low would, but not a pint. However, just for grins, try adding a full quart, and see if it helps. Your filter could be stopped up, and not picking up fluid as it should...just and idear. If the mod is not bad, and the extra fluid don't help....I do accept cash, check, or money orders....

Sorry to hear that Ron, thats exactly what my 78 Pacer was doing, just before the total rebuild of the transmission Cry  It would start, run fine, head down the road, 1st no prob, 2nd no prob, drive, nothing there.  I hope yours is a much simplier problem then I had.

Ron, ya needs a 1/2" wobble socket, or a universal joint type adapter, and a long extension.
If all else fails, you may want to drop the crossmember down, but I've always been able to get at them with a wobble socket...
