Please keep in mind with this that I am not the most "handy" person when it comes to tools. I recently got an '07 Silverado, and while it is
very nice, I continue to want to make slight changes to make it
mine. So far, all I've done is install some tinted LED tail lights (the truck is black and I'm trying to black it out as much as possible).
On e-bay now is a C6 Horn button that the seller says would be a direct replacement for the bow tie emblem on my steering wheel. The description notes that it's a very easy installation - after the old one is removed. Sure, but removing the old one requires disengaging and removing the driver's air bag. YIKES. For a novice like me, that sounds really scary!
I know the C6 logo would make for a very cool, custom look, but I need to hear from some of you. Is doing this even safe? If it's safe to R& R the air bag, how difficult would it be? In one of the truck magazines I have, there are instructions to do it as part of a steering wheel replacement project and it doesn't make it sound that difficult, but again, that's probably for people who know what they're doing.
Oh, and assuming you all say "go for it," the seller wants $60 for the horn button. He says he has "a number" of them and "once they're gone, they're gone" but they have been for sale for over a month. I'm thinking of offering him no more than $25-35. Anyone have an idea what a realistic price might be?
Thanks guys!!
What do ya'll think?
