Do the projects in the winter & routine maintenance in the summer as the projects tend to take lots of time.

Tux, you mentioned a chrome trans pan, if I read it right. I have always been told that the chroming causes a pan to retain more heat. Perhaps some other guys or gals can weigh in on the subject. Personally, I don't like to have to clean too much chrome. I go for the easy stuff to keep clean.

Chrome does hold more heat. But it's a small amount. In most cars it won't make enough difference to matter. In extream conditions it can but the heat factor over the edge. But there is that cleaning thing.
