Like so many others, I have been battling heat in the cockpit. It seems to be a chronic problem for the C-3 Corvettes. I have spent much time reviewing the old posts/threads and reading articles, following links, etc. I have found there is much info and corrective actions but they are spread all over the C3 registry web site.
Since this is such a common topic, I propose that it become a separate forum so all these ideas, fixes, articles/links, etc can be found in a single place.
What do you think?
yesterday, after reading this thread (and getting roasted by the cockpit heat the day before) I went out and started looking for holes into the firewall that might let heat in.
OMG, there were plenty! Both access holes for the hood release were open, there looked to be some access holes the previous owner made up by the wiper assembly that were the size of a dime, and the boot for the clutch was ripped and open. The gromet for the speedometer cable was gone. All of these holes were letting hot air directly into the cockpit. The heater seals looked good.
Well, I plugged the holes with some material I had around the garage until I'm able to get the correct gromets, etc. and took her for a drive. I didn't go too far, but I noticed a big difference in how hot it was. I will be taking a longer drive today or tomorrow to confirm, but just fixing some holes made a huge difference.

Thanks for the heads up gents. When the "new" '73 gets here in a couple of weeks, this will be a priority to check out on it. It was in the 120's yesterday, about the same today and will be that way for a couple of months yet. So extra heat will not be welcome around here.

If all the moderators are doing their job correctly you should find threads related to this topic in two, or maybe three, forum discussion areas. I know that is less than perfect, but the "techincal" forums were set up to roughly follow the table of contents of the Haynes/Chilton repair manuals. Slotting threads in the correct forum isn't an exact science, especially when a thread sometimes has multiple thoughts/problems in it.
