Hi, Can a formum moderator help me if possible?  I get the same message every time I try to update my signature that is shown many times in the thread below.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'

Invalid use of Null: 'replace'

/forum/functions/functions_filters.asp, line 524

I tried following the thread, but it didn't really give any solution to the above problem, that I can see.  At first I tried posting a picture (I followed the posted instructions exactly) but I got to the point where I was simply trying to add some text to my sig.  Every time I tried to update profile, I got the above message.  I tried these same steps a few weeks ago and had the same problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

Dave O.

Dave, your sig pic is set up now, and should appear on your next post. Be sure to click on the "Show Signature" box at the bottom of the post box.
You did have the pics loaded into your PFF, but I don't know what issue there was with trying to get them into the sig box.
The forum software has been changed, so that may be the problem. Always make sure you change/edit your sig from the Settings button at the top of the pages. This is a little different than the older instructions here.
Anyway, you're set, and good to go with your sig. Nice choice on the pic too, btw!

Thanks for the help with the sig, Joel.  I think you're right - something just needed to be reset.  Thanks for the compliments on the photo.  A little different than the usual - although I'll probably add something that shows the whole car as well sooner or later!

Dave

It actually is not that complicated. The instructions at the top of this thread are inclusive of a few different scenarios and tips.  I think the biggest problem people run into is trying to figure out how to get a photo in their signature.  Once you learn how to size a photo and upload it to a website, that part is easy too.

I'll break it down for you here:

This part only applies to those members that have been a member for a long time and have an old signature in their main C3VR profile and want to move it to the new (current) forum profile:

If you wish to keep your old signature:
1) Go to your Member "Profile" (under the "My Account" menu.)
2) Find the forum signature box
3) With your mouse, highlight all the text in the box and copy it
4) Go into the forums
5) Click the "Settings" button near the top of the page.
6) Click the "Profile Information" link
7) In the box marked "Signature" paste in your old signature.
8) If you have forum tags ie. |IMG| or |URL| in your old signature, you need to convert them to the new forum tags
   8a) Replace the first | in tags like |IMG| |URL| |/IMG| |/URL| with [
8b) Replace the second | in tags with ]
9) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.
10) Finally... Test Your Signature!  But NOT in a forum thread!
10a) Use the "Signature Preview" link just below the signature box.
11) If you would like to automatically include your signature with all new posts, click the Yes option for "Always attach my signature to posts"

This part is really the meat and bones of what you need to do to create your forum signature. It seems like a lot of steps, but it just seems that way because it is giving very specific click-by-click instructions:

If you wish to create a new signature:
1) While in the forums, Click the "Settings" button near the top of the page.
2) Click the "Profile Information" link
3) Create your new signature in the box marked "Signature".
4) If you would like to create links or images in your signature, you need to use the New forum tags
4a) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.
5) Finally... Test Your Signature!  But NOT in a forum thread!
5a) Use the "Signature Preview" link just below the signature box.
6) If you would like to automatically include your signature with all new posts, click the Yes option for "Always attach my signature to posts"

This part is just a tip if you are short on space and trying to post a link to an image:

HERE'S A TIP!
If you are using a picture that is on C3VR.com, to save character space:
Instead of creating the link like this:
|IMG|https://www.c3vr.com/member_uploads/1_100/4/mypic.jpg|/IMG|
create your link like this:
|IMG|/member_uploads/1_100/4/mypic.jpg|/IMG|
If you are creating a link to a picture or page on C3VR, create your link like this:
|URL|/member_pages/1_100/4/mypage.html|/URL|
*** Of course, make sure to use the new Forum Codes for IMG and URL!

This part is just a reminder about image sizes:

AND A REMINDER!
If you are going to include an image in your signature please resize the image, or a copy of it, to be no more than 200 pixels wide.

If you need assistance, please contact Norsky by IM, PM or email.

Try following these instructions:
Resizing Photos (in Windows)

if you can't get through that, let me know which file in your folder you want to use as your sig pic and I'll resize it for you.
