Well I sold my 81 but its currently making me crazy !!! I have had for 3 years and the alarm never acted up until carlisle. Now if you lock the doors and go to unlock it on the drivers side with the key the alarm goes off , only to have to disconnect the battery to stop it. When I took it apart for paint the drivers side wires had been cut so we reconnected them ( the right thing to do ?). Well I have since recut them and it still goes off every time you unlock it. Certainly someone has to know how to disable the door switches I dont think its getting Stolen any time soon!!! Any Ideas ????
Help please !!!!!!!!!!!!

The Security feature is activated when you lock the doors from the inside. Deactivation occures when you use the key and turn it counter-clockwise first, then clockwise to open the door!!

Jim,
I will have my Shop Manual with me at Effingham if you plan to be there. Otherwise after I return, on Tuesday of next week, I will photocopy the section you need and get it to you!!

Will it dis-arm from the pass side door?
You could remove the alarm relay, and be done with it. On the '81, I think the relay is under the shifter console, but I'm not 100% sure.

The alarm relay on my 82 is under the shifter console, the 81 is probably the same place. However.... I once removed the alarm relay on my 82 and it would not start as in starter would not engage, dont know if the same would hold true for an 81.

Thanks for the replies. Im curious if you connect the wires together eliminating the door lock switch and make the circut complete will it work then.

The 1981 also has a starter interlock that will disconnect the starter if the security is defeated.

Dan The car must be de-armed at the drivers door, not passenger. The alarm relay os located by the shifter in the consoule!

Wiring diagram shows only 3 wires on the relay. From what I can see, tying the Purple wire, and the Purple w/White stripe wire together should bypass the starter interrupt....
I haven't has time to study the diagram, but I will, and see if we can figure out what's causing the problem to start with, and how to fix it.
I think connecting the wires at the door switches together will keep the system armed all the time...
I can e-mail you the wiring diagram, if it will help...
