Check your fuse-box for a terminal marked "IGN"...run a wire from that
out to the choke housing. Of course, this is gunna have you crawling up
under the dash....not much fun with a screwy back....
However...the wiring diagram shows that the '81 had an electric choke to start with...so....I would find the brown wire coming from the alternator, and tie into that. You should also see a fuse marked "Choke Htr" in the fuse box. THis is where the brown wire gets it's ignition fed power.
There should be a "Choke Heater Relay" in that circuit...somewhere....still looking for that location....
