I was taking the body mount bolt out that is behind the rear wheel well. It just spins. I remember a thread quite a while back regarding how to fix this, any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt
two things..
the first is much easier and will save you time..
cut it out with a recip saw.. its likely the bolt is rusted to hell anyway..
the second.. you can try to dig broken metal cage out of the hole on the backside witha magnet and then use a large 12pt socket to hold the square nut still while you loosen the bolt..
believe me.. dont waste your time on number 2.. cut the bolt.. buy a new one
When you say the "backside", where do I get at it? As I'm writing this I'm at work so I can't look at the car.
Thanks,
Matt
Just behind the rear wheel is where you will see the mounting bracket. You'll need a fairly small cutting head to avoid damage to the bracket. Cut the head off from underneath and fish the old bolt out from the top, then thoroughly clean out the pocket.
To replace, I used a new body mount bolt from the kit but on the inside I used a big, thick washer, a lock washer and a square nut from the local hardware.
