Hey Gang,
I want to replace the O.P. sending unit. To be sure, is it the part above the oil filter that "screws" into the block ad has an electrical wire connected to it? If so, do I need to drain the oil first?  The reason is due to flucuations with my oil pressure. It will range from 40# to 60# and sometimes the needle flutters in between. Thanks.

Yes the sender is just above the oil filter.
No, you don't need to drain the oil. You might get a little out of the sender, couple of drops. Are you sure its the sender? have you checked the connections to make sure they are clean. You might want to try and find a friend with a mechanical pressure gauge that could do a check for you first. Just to make sure there is nothing going on with the pump or relief valve.
You might also check to see if one of the members are near by you. They may be able to help out with the test. Let us know how it goesThumbs%20Up

Check your wiring first to make sure that it is not shorting to ground some where.

It'll leak a little oil not bad, whenyou have it off poke a little screwdriver in the hole and wiggle it around, ocassionally some gunk settles in there that can end up inside the sender and foul it upThumbs%20Up
