I am thinking of purchasing one of these covers for my 1982, but wondered if anyone has one on their Vette.

Do they fit without trimming?

How do you attach them?

How do they look?

Better painted black or match body color?

I've had one for a few years now, just fastens with 4 screws and cleans up that area real good. It not very sturdy but is enough I guess. Just left mine black and it and fire wall sorta blend. See this older picture of mine, it shows it at an angle.

Yea I left mine Black but I guess thats already the body color on mine. Its flat black like the rest of the engine compartment. Covers up my ugly wiper compartment with all that caulk crap around the wiper base and windsheild. Looks good in my opinion. I just scewed it on and used black screws. Tumarr38469.9337384259

Have them on both my 79 & 76....Extremely easy to install  I used
5 screws ... one at both ends one dead center and 2 evenly spaced in the middle of those ...

I Also left mine the original black...Pay attention to what someone else said..... they are not very strong ....

DO NOT ....

lean on one with you hand trying to reach something under the hood..
but they are great at hiding that ugly area ...'enough said !

Go for it...

I was deciding on purchasing one but I found out that screwing into a original vette would kill me....     I'm trying to keep mine original until it blowes up or no more original parts are not produced or found anywhere.

Overall, if I did buy one I would keep it black as well.

How about Velcro or double backed tape. That way you can remove it when necessary. I don't like putting extra holes in my Vette either. But I really need to cover up the messy job someone did with roofing cement.

I'll have to look into the double backed tape.   No velco because that means I have to use glue.  I can put the clear tape under the fiberglass edges.

Have to think about it and ask the other half on that.  Or just buy it and only place it on an non-movement event.   Without screw, tape or velcro.  I will see....

I wanted to get one for my 78 a few years back till one day the hood latch cable broke - I was able to reach under the hood edge find the cable ends and open the hood - I'm not sure I could have accomplished this if I had covered the wiper area.

With the sheild installed  you would have some problems getting
to the cable ends from above...BUT with the hood locked tight you only have one way ...from the bottom... not really that difficult to do...

Been there done that....lol

Well I ordered one from Mid-America and it came Tuesday UPS. Took about 4 days from the time I ordered it on line. BTW, I put in the special instructions that I was a member of C3VR and expected that they would give me a discount. They knocked 10% off.

It came with a one page instruction sheet and already had double-backed tape on it.

The instructions said to remove the wiper blades and with a buddy, slip the wipers through the holes in the cover. When I did that I discovered an obstruction; the little wire bracket that keeps the wipers from going below the windshield.

Being the impulsive, charge-ahead-first-and-think-about-it-later type of guy, I cut a slot in the cover to clear the bracket.

As soon as I had it properly fitted, I said to myself "You A-hole, why didn't you just remove the bracket? The cover will keep the blades in place."

Oh well, maybe my blunder will help someone else.

It looks good, except for that little notch and the wire bracket. Damn, I may need to buy another one.

Tip: If you turn on the ignition and operate the blades so they are pointing up, then turn the ignition off, the cover goes on easy and it is easy to get at the double-backed tape.
