Attaching Arm Rest When Holes Are Stripped  - Submitted by: gofast
The arm rest on my 78 were always loose due to the holes used to attach the arm rest to the door frame had been reamed out too large or stripped and would not hold a screw. Larger screws would not work as they wold split the guides on the arm rest.
My solution was to get what they call speed nuts and epoxy them to the back of the stripped holes in the frame. They are small enough to fit in the tight spaces and once the epoxy cures are pretty sturdy.
Then just screw the arm rest to the door as you normally would making sure the screw goes into the speed nut. Worked on my 78.
