i am looking for a new exhaustsystem for my L82 1978 corvette...the thing is should i really go for 2.5" diameter or can it also be a 2.25" diameter pipe.
currently i have a combination of several sizes welded together from what i could see and measure.
just after te header collector i have some 2.25" (or maybe even less) pipe.. then some 2.5" i think with really ugly bending so to my idea it restrict flow and just before the muffler also 2.25" (or maybe even less ) pipe.
so to my idea at the moment i actually have more an airflow based on a 2.25 system due to the several restrictions in my pipe system ?
since i don have any shops nearby that can install an exhaustsystem i have to do it myself with a bolt on system
why i might want a 2.25 " pipe diameter is because i saw on summit an exhaust bolt on system that fits my 78 :
hooker competition but it is only available with 2.25 pipe
the pipe bending looks really smooth with no restrictions anywhere
and that in combination with hooker competition headers:
for mufflers i want to go for dynomax super turbos
ofcourse i have done some research already and i think that mostly recommended will be a 2.5"diameter
for that i found this system:
but... this setup comes with magnaflow or a standard muffler while i prefer the dynomax
further on the pic the bending of the pipes suggest that there are several restrictions so that the airflow won't be 2.5" all over the pipes length?
any suggestions /experience with these systems or other bolt on systems?
thank you
arthur
