I purchased a chrome master cylinder cap Mr Gasket 5272 for my 1978 Corvette. The Bail clips in the kit measure 4 inches top to bottom. But the existing clips on the master cylinder on my car measure 3 inches top to bottom. The 4 inch clips will not secure the cap.
Does anyone have any idea why there would be two sizes of bail clips? And how would I get myself some chrome 3 inch bail clips?
Part# 5272 does say that it is for GM Dual Master Cylinders, which may be a bit misleading. Part# 5273 looks to be the same cap but appears to have the shorter bales. Unfortunately in the specs for either one there aren't any measurements offered.
Over the years I've found it a good practice to take a part with me to the parts store so I can compare the old and new side by side before laying down the payment. Not so easy to do when buying parts on-line tho'. Incomplete specs on the vendor's website doesn't help either.

I would contact Mr. Gasket and tell them that they put the wrong clips in the kit.

Thanks for the info. I drove to a local store and found a 5273 on the rack . It has correct size clips. I guess I'll return the other to the web store where I got them.
